Supporting Character? Props & Set Analysis
Supporting Characters, Props, & Set
Supporting Character:
My opening sequence has one single character and follows her inside her head and her use of drugs. Since there is only one character, there is no need for a supporting character. I have decided not to include more characters because that isn't what I wanted my opening scene to represent. The purpose of my film is to convey the message of how a young girl feels when she is high off of drugs compared to when she isn't. During her highs she feels light and airy but when she isn't she is alone, dreary, and dull just aching to have more drugs. I think it is best to keep it as one character only.
Props & Set:
The use of props and set to help convey the story of my film is extremely significant. I have two locations one is in an open field and the other is in a drug store/corner store, the objective is to give off two separate moods. The field represents freedom and almost a dreamlike state of mind while the drug store is a lot more grounded, consisting of gritty and kind of dull atmosphere. For the first scene with the filed, my props consist of lots of flowers and a white flat sheet. My props for the second scene is basically the medication on the shelves, pill bottles, treatment syrups, etc. The goal is to achieve a sense of separation and division, this is to represent the inside of my character's mind.
