Testing Camera Angles
This quick camera shot includes a close up angle of vibrant orange flowers located at my school's garden patch. This specific camera angle was chosen to capture the greater detail of the flower's pure and natural state. While shooting this video I slowed down the speed, further accentuating the flower's detail. This allows the audience to take the time to consume the beauty of the garden. Before this shot was taken it had rained heavily but promoted a dewy glow for the flowers, making the perfect close up.
Phone Call Mid-Shot (MS):
In this medium shot, the purpose was to showcase a phone call taking place as the character proceeds to slowly move out the frame. This angle revealed the characters face and body as they listened intensely toward the "person" on the other line. I wanted to achieve a sense of setting, allowing the audience to view the location, simple but yet detailed enough to show a classroom in the background. During filming, we were able to capture facial and body movements.
Low Angle On Stairs:
The low angle camera angle, positioned at bottom of a staircase while the character walked down the stairs, allows us to see the characters body language and stature. While shooting this scene the angle automatically made it seem like she looked taller than in reality. The movement of walking down the stairs helped create fluidity in the video instead of a stagnant image-like video.
Courtyard Wide Shot:
A courtyard of swaying palm trees joined by concrete seats and a wall of classroom doors, hint at the location being at school. This wide shot reveals the location of a scene, shows the context of the following scenes to come. This scene captures the essence of where the character is and what they might be doing. The gloomy weather during filming created a somber tone in the clip.
High Angle Quick Scene:
A high angle camera shot is intended to look down on a subject both literally and figuratively. With this angle I wanted to achieve a sense of unity, where the character highlighted in the video isn't necessarily doing anything to stand out, she's blending in. The high angle makes her also appear smaller.
All of your videos are pretty good, and I really think the your close up of the plants is really good in particular. Also, I think that your blog itself looks really well.
